E-Scooter Rider Fatally Struck In Queens, Flushing Man Arrested: NYPD Leave a comment

QUEENS — A Flushing man stands accused of fatally striking an electric scooter rider while driving drunk without a license in the streets of Queens, police said.

Jairo Ortiz, 24, was arrested on manslaughter charges after crashing his 2021 BMW 328I sedan at 82nd Street and 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights about 1 a.m. Saturday, the NYPD said.

Medics rushed the scooter-rider to Elmhurst Hospital but doctors were unable to save his life, police said.

Ortiz remained on the scene and was later arrested, police said.
