Peddle, a new e-bike firm set up by one of Britain’s leading technology distributers will launch with a range of four machines that are designed to be easy to use and come with a ‘complete’ set of accessories.
The new brand will launch with four pedal assist e-bikes: the Go commuter bike, Step and Ride city bikes and the Pro all-rounder. Prices from £1749 to £2999, Peddle also claims that each will come with more kit and extras than any other bike brand.
Peddle has been set up by Exertis, which you might not have heard of but is a big B2B technology distributers and specialist service provider. That company is, in turn, part of the FTSE-listed DCC, a sales, marketing and services group.
The new e-bike brand claims that it is unique by offering a ‘complete’ e-bike product that’s ready to ride straight from the box. Peddle claims each machine comes with more than £500 of features and up to £150 of accessories, which includes a Yale security lock, handlebar cover, mini pump, mountable cup holder, spare mains charger, multi-tool and a BikeRegister security tag.
All the firm’s e-bikes also come with an LCD display with Bluetooth, so riders can share their data through a smartphone app.
The range starts with the £1749 Peddle Go, which has an allow frame and features a foldable handlebar and pedals to save space. It weighs 21kg and features city tyres.
The Peddle Step and Ride city bikes both cost £1999, with one featuring a step-through frame and the other a hybrid frame. The Step is offered with a single frame size, while the Ride offers a choice of two sizes.
The Go, Step and Ride all use a rear-hub motor powered by a 36V 10Ah battery that is integrated into their frames. The Go has an electric range of around 35 miles, with the Step and Ride offering around 30. The Go and Step have a seven-speed Shimano Tourney shifter, while the Ride gets an Altus system featuring a ‘RapidFire’ shifter.
The range-topping Peddle Pro is priced at £2999 and is intended as a long-range bike with some off-road capability. It features a Motinova Volans Plus Central Drive motor, which is powered from a removable Samsung 17.5Ah battery than offers a range of around 80 miles.
The Pro also features Suntour suspension forms, two frame sizes, a nine-speed Shimano Alivio shifter and CST MTB tyres.
