Jawa Electric Bike Launch By Mid 2022 Leave a comment

Classic Legends brought back the iconic Jawa motorcycle brand in India in late 2018. At present, the company has three models in its product portfolio – Jawa, Jawa Forty Two and Jawa Perak. Now, the company is planning to foray into the EV (electric vehicle) segment that’s getting momentum in the country.

Speaking to an online media publication, CEO Ashish Singh Joshi, has revealed that the company established a small R&D centre in Coventry, UK with a team of 12-15 BSA employees. The electric technology for Jawa motorcycles will be developed at the brand’s UK centre. The first Jawa electric bike is expected to hit roads around mid 2022.

The model is likely to be developed with a high level of localization and priced competitively against the upcoming Royal Enfield electric bike. Its design and styling will be similar to the new-age Jawa bikes. Though, it might carry some futuristic design elements along with the Blue highlights, round LED headlamp and charging lid.

Official details of the new Jawa electric bike are yet to be revealed. Reports suggest that it will feature a large battery pack delivering a range of around 200-250km on a full charge. The battery pack will be placed just below the fuel tank.

Recently, the Jawa motorcycles were introduced in two new colours – Midnight Grey and Khakhee. The new Jawa Special edition celebrates India’s victory in the 1971 war against Pakistan. The model has tricolor on the fuel tank and an Indian Army insignia. The special edition has been made available at Rs 1.93 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), thus making it around Rs 6,000 and Rs 15,000 more expensive than the Jawa and Jawa Forty Two. The special edition can be booked online at the company’s website.

More details on the new Jawa electric bike are likely to be revealed in near future. Stay tuned to IndiaCarNews.
