NEW DELHI: Ola Electric announcement of booking commencement for its electric scooters has received a strong buzz and overwhelming response with repeated instances of the official website crashing.
Ola Electric on Thursday opened the bookings for its much-awaited upcoming electric scooter with an initial amount of Rs 499.
It is expected that the upcoming Ola electric scooter will likely be put under the name tag of S series. As per the Government’s official trademark registry, Ola Electric has trademarked three names- S1, S1 Pro and the Series S.
It is highly expected that Ola will drive in the electric scooter with the S1 and S1 pro variants. S1 will likely be the entry-level trim, the S1 Pro would sit higher up as the more premium and performance-based offering.

With the strong buzz created among the segment, the e-scooter images have surfaced online. As per the revealed images, it is expected that along with the black, Ola will also offer the pink and light blue trims.
Ola electric scooter is highly expected to feature an app-based start-up system, a large TFT display showcasing information like calls and SMS alerts, navigation, ride statistics and others.
The company has also initiated the process of installing its ‘Hypercharger Network‘ across the country with one lakh charging points across 400 cities.
With the commencement of the bookings of the e-scooter, many people who logged onto the website were left bare hands as they reported getting error messages. By late evening, Ola CEO, Bhavish Agarwal apologized to those who faced issues via Twitter.
In a tweet, he said, “For those who faced issues in the beginning, apologies! We didn’t anticipate the crazy demand and didn’t plan enough scalability for the website. All fixed now.”

Ola is all set to likely launch its electric scooter in July and is likely to lock horns with the rivals like the Ather 450X, TVS iQube, and Bajaj Chetak.
The Ola electric scooter would be manufactured at the 500-acre facility in Tamil Nadu. This facility is targeted to produce 10 million units per annum.
