Road closures due to Fyshwick e-scooter factory fire | The Canberra Times Leave a comment

There is a fire at electric scooter battery storage facility on Geelong Street in Fyshwick, ACT Fire and Rescue have said. There is a road closure in place along Geelong Street approximately 400 metres from the entrance off Canberra Avenue. Residents are being asked to avoid the area as while the fire is contained inside the building, it is not under control yet. This is the second blaze at the e-scooter warehouse in recent months. It caught alight on the morning of May 31 this year, with firefighters attending to the building overnight. Neighbouring businesses have been evacuated by ACT Policing. Animal Referral Hospital Canberra on Yallourn Street confirmed most of the staff had been evacuated from the veterinary clinic on Wednesday night. Emergency staff are still inside caring for in-patient animals, but the vet is closed to other patients. There are seven ACT Fire and Rescue vehicles on the scene. ActewAGL is working to turn off the electricity to the building, and Emergency Services ACT said they expect firefighters to be fighting the blaze late into the night. More to come.
