Ola electric scooter teased yet again; India launch soon
It is no secret that Indian ride hailing behemoth, Ola, is bracing to launch its first ever electric scooter in India. It is no secret becaue the company’s CEO and chairman, Bhavish Aggarwal, has lately taken to social media to share teasers and updates about the upcoming EV in India. Aggarwal’s latest tweet about the Ola e scooter offers a hint of the features we will get to see. In fact, the tweet lists a handful of them, including best-in-segment underseat stowage space, ‘category-leading long range charge’, and keyless, app-based access. It must be noted the Ola electric scooter has not been named yet; but that does not mean we don’t know much else about it.
We know it will be based on the Etergo Appscooter, an EV offered by the Etergo electric mobility company, which is a Netherlands-based start-up that Ola acquired in 2020. However, the Etergo platform has been adapted for India and the Ola scooter is expected to deliver better performance and much more. In addition to the aforementioned features, we reckon the Ola electric scooter will also come equipped with provisions such as alloy wheels, a digital instrument console, removable Lithium-ion battery, cloud connectivity, etc.
Unfortunately, we don’t know about the Ola e scooter’s riding range, charging time, its electric powertrain, battery set up, etc. However, word does have it that the scooter may offer a riding range of about 150 km per charge. Guess we will have to wait for the company’s social media-friendly top boss to confirm it at some point.
