Police were called out after a man was seen smashing cars with a hammer before fleeing on an electric scooter.
The incident took place in Wilson Way, Goldenhill at 6.40pm on Saturday.
Officers later arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with the incident.
The male sustained minor injuries – understood to be a bite from a police dog involved in the arrest – and he was initially brought to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for treatment, before being taken into custody.
A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: “We received a call at 6.40pm, reporting a male damaging cars with a hammer in Wilson Way, Goldenhill. The male had made off on an electric scooter.
“Police later detained a 26-year-old white male, who sustained injuries and was taken to A&E. Inquiries are ongoing.”
Staffordshire Police’s dogs and ARV team later tweeted that PD Tiger had been involved in the arrest.
