Bengaluru-based EV start-up Simple Energy will launch its flagship electric scooter, codenamed Mark 2, in India on August 15, 2021. The Mark 2 electric scooter is expected to be priced between Rs 1.10 lakh and Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom).

The production-spec Mark 2 is based on the Mark 1 prototype, which was revealed last year. The Mark 2 electric scooter gets a mid-drive motor paired with a removable 4.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

Now here is the interesting part. Simple Energy claims that the Mark 2 has a range of 240 kilometres in Eco mode. With a claimed top speed of 100kmph, the electric scooter can accelerate from 0 to 50kmph in merely 3.6 seconds.

The Mark 2 electric scooter looks rather sporty and boasts of an all-LED lighting setup. The instrument panel is a 7-inch touch display with 4G connectivity.

According to Simple Energy, the Mark 2 will be initially introduced in Bengaluru, followed by Chennai and Hyderabad. While the EV start-up’s R&D centre is located in Bengaluru, its maiden manufacturing facility, with a claimed production capacity of 50,000 units per year, is also coming up here.
