Simple Energy Mark II e scooter India launch scheduled for Independence Day 2021
Ready to throw its hat in the ring that is India’s electric vehicle market is Simple Energy. Yep, the Bengaluru-based EV start up recently announced the upcoming launch of its first electric scooter in India, reportedly christened Mark II, on 15 August, 2021. The long-range electric scooter was first scheduled to be launched in here the first half of 2021. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic as well as the lockdowns and other restrictions in its wake meant that plan had to be pushed back. Set to rival other electric scooters in India, such as Bajaj Chetak and Ather 450X, Simple Energy Mark 2’s price is expected to range between ₹1 lakh to ₹1.2 lakh.

Simple Energy Mark 2: Specs
While the company hasn’t revealed the upcoming e scooter’s specs in their entirety, it did say Mark II will come equipped with a removable 4.8 kWh lithium-ion battery. Simple Energy claims the production model of its upcoming electric two wheeler in India will deliver a range of 240 km per single charge in eco mode. The company added the Mark II is capable of a top speed of 100 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in just 3.6 seconds.
Simple Energy Mark 2: Features
The home-grown EV manufacturer says the e scooter will come equipped with ample modern features, such as a on-board navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, touchscreen, etc.
The first Simple Energy electric scooter will be launched in Bengaluru, with its availability eventually being expanded to Chennai and Hyderabad.
