Appeal after cyclist dragged from electric bike, beaten and robbed in Selly Oak Leave a comment


Police have released CCTV images after a man was dragged from his bike, beaten and robbed in Selly Oak.

The man was on his electric bike in Selly Oak Park, off Harborne Lane, when rode past a group of young people.

The victim, in his 20s, was then dragged to the ground, punched and kicked.

His bike and rucksack, containing his phone and bank cards, were stolen and three attackers headed off in the direction of Gibbens Lane.

West Midlands Police released images of three people who may have information about the attack, which happened at 6.10pm on March 27.

The force said: “We want to speak to them after a man was robbed of his electric bike in Selly Oak Park, off Harborne Lane, Birmingham at about 6.10pm on Saturday, March 27.

“The rider, a man in his 20s, had just travelled past a group of young people in the park when he was dragged from his bike onto the ground where he was punched and kicked.

“Thankfully, as he was wearing a cycle helmet, he was not seriously hurt, but his rucksack, containing his phone and bank cards and his bike were stolen.

“The three attackers then headed off in the direction of Gibbens Lane.”
