Teenagers beaten up in e-scooter robbery in Foleshill Leave a comment

Police are appealing for information after a pair of teenage boys were violently assaulted by two men for an electric scooter.

The incident happened in a Coventry park on Kingfield Road, Foleshill on Wednesday evening.

The 14-year-old boys were punched “several times” before their attackers made off with a scooter belonging to one them.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We were called after two teenagers were assaulted and an electric scooter was stolen in Cash’s Park, Coventry, just after 6pm yesterday (21 April).

“The boys, both aged 14, were approached by two men who punched them several times before making off with the scooter.

Electric scooters have been a hot topic in the city in recent months.

Late last year Coventry took part in an E-scooter trail which saw the motorised vehicles dotted around the city centre.

However, the trial was soon suspended due to their persistent misuse.

A second trial then began at the University of Warwick in January, the success of which meant the trial was extended earlier this month.

However, due to a rise in popularity of the battery-ran two wheelers, there has unfortunately also been a rise in crimes and accidents relating to them.

There has also been a crackdown on illegal use of E-scooters, which often arise due to the apparent uncertainty of when and where they can ridden.
