Ather 450X electric scooter’s deliveries begin in Delhi
Remember last week we told you about the first unit of the Ather 450X electric scooter having been delivered in Delhi? It was received by Dr Pawan Munjal, Chairman and CEO, Hero MotoCorp; Hero MotoCorp was among the set of early investors in Ather Energy, in case you forgot. Anyway, the electric two-wheeler manufacturer has now also started customer deliveries in the national capital as well. In addition to that, Ather Energy has also commenced test rides in Lajpat Nagar for folks interested in bringing the Ather 450X or Ather 450 Plus home. It must also be noted that the company will inaugurate the experience centre, Ather Space, in the city in May 2021 — it will also be located in Lajpat Nagar.
Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy, “The Delhi NCR region is a very important market, and we are delighted by the positive response we’ve received so far. Since the launch of the Ather 450x last year, we have been receiving a lot of requests for test rides & bookings, and to start our operations here. This event marks the formal start of our operations, and we’re excited to be here. The Government of Delhi has introduced very progressive policies and initiatives like Switch Delhi and additional statesponsored subsidy beyond FAME II, has made EVs more accessible. This makes Delhi the most attractive market for EVs, in terms of pricing. Ather Space, our experience centre, and all services will be managed directly by us so we can offer the best customer service to our Delhi NCR community. Our experience centre will be up by May, meanwhile, consumers can enjoy the test rides and book the Ather 450X.”
In order to brace for the arrival of Ather electric scooter in Delhi, the Bengaluru-based EV maker set up 10 fast-charging points, also referred to as Ather Grid, across key hotspots in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, and Ghaziabad. The company added it intended to install more charging points across Delhi NCR over the next few months.
Ather 450X gets a 2.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a belt-driven hub motor. This combination delivers a maximum power of 8 bhp and 26 Nm of torque. The scooter can go from 0 to 40 km/h in just 3.3 sec in Warp mode, making it the quickest scooter in the 125cc category. It is claimed to deliver a riding range of 85 km/charge in Eco mode and can be charged up to 80 per cent in just an hour. Whereas with DC fast charging, Ather 450X’s charging rate is reduced to 1.5 km per minute.
