Headquartered in Madrid (Spain) and San Diego (California), Crow Bicycles is going to be Gravel’s first premium e-bike brand funded by crowdfunding on Indiegogo. The Crow team is made up of renowned professionals with extensive experience in the bicycle sector in Spain and the United States, who have been developing similar business models in the industry for more than 15 years. The Crow team has finally presented its debut model: a high-end carbon gravel eBike designed for riders of all skills.
The Crow eGravel is designed for both commuting and rural recreational use, as it can be used with or without a motor and battery. Weighing just 30.2 pounds (or 13.7 kg), the Crow is one of the lightest gravel e-bikes on the market.
It is being offered in four models – two with aluminum frames and two with carbon fiber frames. They feature trusted, proven top-of-the-line components from Shimano, SRAM, and Ritchey. And all Crow bikes feature carbon-fiber fork, wireless or standard-shifting drivetrains by Shimano or SRAM (2x or 1x transmissions), Ritchey gravel handlebars, and high-end Shimano or SRAM hydraulic disc brakes for exceptional stopping power.
Crow eGravel includes a Fazua Evation Drive System – one of the industry’s lightest, most compact mid-mounted drive systems – cleanly integrated within the Crow frame. It is equipped with a lithium battery and a bottom bracket motor in one unit, which can easily be removed to allow to use it like a standard gravel bike. The process is said to be simple and quick, leaving extra room for snacks, spare tubes, or a jacket.
You can choose from three levels of motorized pedaling assistance or pedal without any help, just as you would on a non-motorized bike. According to the Crow team, with a single charge range of approximately 50 miles (80 km), you should have more than enough power to get to work and back each day.
The e-gravel bike comes with a Crow app that will help you understand their performance and provide you with additional information such as GPS navigation, cadence, rider power output, and torque generation. In addition, it communicates with the battery to display current battery levels and range and give a technical overview of the motor system.
Currently, there is no information on the detailed specifications of the Crow eGravel. It is now the subject of an Indiegogo campaign, where its price ranges from $2,867 for Crow eGravel AL2 to $4,465 for Crow eGravel CF1. If all goes according to the plan, shipping is expected to begin in November 2021.
