Her acting career may be powering ahead but Florence Pugh shuddered to a halt last week when her electric bike ran out of juice during a ride with a male friend.

Days after she was named in the Time 100 Next list, the 25-year-old took to the hills near her home in Los Angeles on her £3,000 Super73 electric bicycle.

The Oxford-born star of Little Women felt the battery power fade during an uphill section of the ride. Enjoying the LA sunshine in winter whites and Adidas Stan Smith sneakers, she removed her crash helmet so she could push the bicycle to the top of the hill.

Showing fitness levels gained for her role in the upcoming superhero movie Black Widow, the actress made the summit in no time.

Her flat battery was the only blip in a memorable week for the actress, who responded to the Time magazine honour on Instagram by saying: ‘This is a lovely ‘pinch me’ moment. Thank you @time for the shout out.’

The star recently finished filming Don’t Worry Darling, which co-stars Harry Styles.

In an Instagram message thanking the cast and crew, Florence wrote: ‘Despite the new on-set rules, every single person delivered their A game… You are the best bunch of jammy jammy dodgers and we are so grateful for you!’
