‘Drug dealer’ who tried to use electric bike to escape police caught with £19,000 cash Leave a comment


Police caught a man suspected of drug dealing with a whopping bundle of notes amounting to £19k.

Merseyside Police said officers were out on St Oswald’s Avenue in Birkenhead yesterday conducting patrols when they spotted a “drugs transaction” in progress.

A 21-year-old man tried to escape from police on an electric bike but was caught nearby.

Officers recovered a bag which contained £19k in bundles of cash.

The 21-year-old man was arrested and remains in police custody.

Posting on their official Facebook page, Wirral Police uploaded photographs of what appeared to be drugs and stacked, bundles of notes seized in the operation.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: “At around 5.50pm yesterday (Thursday 11 February), officers sighted a man in suspicious circumstances on St Oswalds Avenue, Beechwood.

“He attempted to make off on an electric bike but was detained nearby.

“A bag containing around £19,000 was recovered and seized.

“The 21-year-old man from Beechwood was arrested on suspicion of acquire/use/possess criminal property and taken to a police station for questioning.”

This arrest comes after a hidden safe with £10,000 in cash and a large supply of Class A drugs were found during raids of two properties in Birkenhead on Monday.

Two males, aged 46 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of possession with attempt to supply Class A and B drugs.

They have now been released under investigation and enquiries are continuing.
