Arson thug flees on electric bike after second firebomb attack in Dingle Leave a comment


Police are investigating a second arson attack in the space of 48 hours in Dingle.

Emergency services rushed to Beaufort Street at 1.40am on Sunday after the front door of a house was deliberately set alight by two men.

This is the second arson attack in recent days in the Dingle area.

The first case of arson was reported on Dingle Lane, at around 8.15am on Friday, February 5.

On that occasion a family home was engulfed in flame s while a mum and children were still inside.

On arrival, fire crews founds the hallway of the property well alight but the mum an three children managed to escape unharmed.

In the most recent incident, the two suspects are reported to have made off from the scene – one on an electric bike, and the other on foot.

Both men are described as being of slim build and wearing masks and hoods.

One of the suspects was wearing a black jacket with a shiny emblem and another was wearing light coloured tracksuit bottoms.

A Merseyside police spokesperson said nobody was present at the address at the time of the incident and damage is not believed to have spread beyond the front door of the property.

Officers are appealing for information as the incident is being treated as arson. CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Inspector Amy Smith said: “Thankfully no-one was injured during this incident, but the consequences could have been far worse for the neighbours if the fire had spread.

“If you witnessed the incident or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area, we would urge you to come forward. Likewise, if you have any CCTV or dash cam footage that could assist with the investigation, please let us know so we can take action and find those responsible.”
