Last evening brought out police, several politicos and a Bollywood star at the Worli Sea Face. It was the launch of 20 electric scooters for the Mumbai Police to help them monitor and patrol the sea-facing promenade.
Senior police officers including Mumbai’s Commissioner of Police Param Bir Singh and Joint Commissioner of Police, Vishwas Nangre Patil, were present and Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray flagged off the two-wheeled, self-balancing scooters. Akshay Kumar came by to lend his support to the event as well.


Looking totally fit, Akshay wore an all-black tracksuit with white and black sports shoes and, of course, a mask and as given a bouquet of flowers on the stage. The actor also did a enjoyed a segway ride with Aditya Thackeray.

Mumbai Police shared the news on their official handle. Akshay also later took to his Twitter account to say: “At the inaugural of @MumbaiPolice’s self balancing vehicles of Freego to patrol our promenade at Worli and Carter Road. Happy to see the modernization of our police force, on par with global standards. HM @AnilDeshmukhNCP ji @AUThackeray @CPMumbaiPolice.”

Param Bir Singh took to his official Twitter handle to retweet Akshay and added: “A ‘Special 24’ for promenade safety. We definitely need to keep up with the times @akshaykumar, to make sure no unnecessary and unlawful stunts are accomplished in our city! #SafetyFirst.”
