After the series, B1, B2, and B3 electric scooter, the Indian electric scooter manufacturer, Blacksmith Electric, has now presented its new models known as the B4 and its delivery version, the B4+.
Like the previous motorcycle models from this brand, the Blacksmith B4 incorporates a neo-retro design but with futuristic touches that can be compared to the popular Italian Vespa. The scooter is powered by a 5 kW (continuous) electric motor that provides a 14.5 kW of peak output power and 96 Nm of torque.
Blacksmith B4 reaches a top speed of a decent 120 km/h (75 mph). However, the speed can be limited to 60 km/h (37 mph), or 80 km/h (50 mph), or 100 km/h (62 mph).
In addition, the e-scooter integrates a patented High Energy Density NMC battery pack with Intelligent Bluetooth BMS, with which they said that changing batteries take around 4 hours. Blacksmith hasn’t released details on the actual capacity of the battery. Range that shouldn’t differ too much from the 120 km (75 miles) of the other electric scooter they previously announced, the Blacksmith B3.
Other specifications include a max load capacity of 200 kg, space to carry up to two riders, and anti-theft technology. Blacksmith’s delivery variant, the B4+ electric scooter, offers a large cargo box to the rear of the vehicle instead of a passenger seat. The company positions the B4+ as a courier or delivery electric scooter. Future owners can look forward to GPS and integrated artificial intelligence from smart features.
The launch date and prices have not yet been announced, but previous B2 electric motorcycles from Blacksmith Electric were priced at $5,000. India has become a pioneer in electric scooters, which are gradually replacing the classic petrol motorcycles that polluted both India and the local air.
